We had been watching this mother moose and her calf when she chased three employees into the woods near the Canyon Cabins. She was eyeing me to decide whether I was a threat to her calf. After a short standoff she decided that I was not a threat. This picture was taken in June, 1999

This is the calf the mother moose was protecting. One would not expect to find moose in the cabin areas, but this just shows that the unexpected is normal for Yellowstone.

We saw this young bull moose in velvet on our way back to Canyon for Norris in July, 1999. He was along the road across from the exit from the Virginia Cascades road. After we got this picture the rangers came and made everyone move because a lot of cars were blocking the road.

We were returning from another day of animal watching and saw the four 'Pretty Boys' near the cabin area at Canyon. Last year they were in the cabin area browsing on the cabins. This picture was taken in June, 1999.
