We got up, took our showers and were getting ready to go to breakfast when we heard Beehive Indicator called. Deb got her boots on and headed for Beehive. I was right behind her. As I crossed the road to go to the Visitor Center I heard Beehive itself called. Deb was already past the Visitor Center so I thought she would be able to get some pictures. Unfortunately the ground fog was so heavy you could not see Beehive from the viewing area. All you could see was a shadow. Deb took a couple of pictures just the same but they did not come out too well. As we were leaving the viewing area we heard Lion called. There was no way we would even be able to see Lion.
We stopped by the Visitor Center on our way back for breakfast. It seemed to be very warm and we wanted to see what the temperature was. It was a balmy 10 degrees. I had to take my jacket off since it seemed so warm. After breakfast we went back to the room to get our packs. We headed over to the Visitor Center before going out into the geyser basin. They had changed the prediction for Grand from 11:30 to 1:00. The ground fog was beginning to dissipate and there was not as much frost on threes as yesterday. We headed out into the geyser basin.
We had heard an earlier call for Castle so we did not spend much time there. We had some time to kill before Grand was predicted to erupt. Riverside was not doing anything. We did catch a Daisy and an Oblong eruption. We saw a number of wolf footprints near Oblong. It would appear that the Nez Perce pack was going deeper in the geyser basin. Beauty and Chromatic looked very nice with the snow border. The ground fog had completely dissipated and it was a beautiful day. There were only a few wispy clouds in the sky. There were very few people in the geyser basin.
We met Michael (Mic L) at Grand. He said that Fan and Mortar was looking good for tomorrow and that Giant was in recovery. By now Deb was getting very warm so she shed her coat. It was a balmy 30 degrees. Grand went off shortly after 1:00. It was just a single (T1C) burst but very nice just the same. There was a rainbow in the steam cloud as Grand finished. As we were leaving Grand we heard another Oblong called. This was strange as the normal interval for Oblong is 8 hours. From Grand we were able to see the top of Oblong's water column.
Nothing else was predicted to erupt so we just wandered around the geyser basin. We watched Sawmill for a while. Penta had a steam eruption. Penta and Sawmill never erupt at the same time but occasionally after a deep Sawmill eruption Penta will have a steam eruption. It is very rare. We decided to go to Castle rather than Riverside. Castle was having small bursts. Some were as high as 10 feet. We decided to watch them for a while. Besides, you have a great view of Geyser Hill from Castle. While we were waiting at Castle we heard the call for Riverside. I guess we made the wrong decision.

We headed back to the Visitor Center. We decided to wait for the next Old Faithful eruption as it was predicted to be within 30 minutes. While we were waiting for Old Faithful to erupt we watched a raven trying to sneak up on our backpacks. Plume and Depression also erupted while we were waiting for Old Faithful. I think Plume looks better from a distance rather that near it. It was very crowded on the viewing platform. There were four people besides Deb and me. The eruption was longer than last night. It was very nice with the sun reflecting off the water. Before we left Lion went off again. It was an initial eruption and was very large. Since the ground fog had dissipated earlier we were able to see this eruption.
We were scheduled to go to take a snow coach tour to Canyon tomorrow. Since we were have so much fun in the geyser basin we decided to cancel the tour and spend another day watching geysers. Besides, there is a good possibility for a Fan and Mortar. We went to the Snow Lodge to cancel our reservations and Michael was on the front desk. He took care of everything for us. Since we did not have our tickets we had to go back to the cabin to get them. Deb returned to the Snow Lodge with our tickets. She saw Matthew (Funkygeyserman) and his wife waiting in the lobby. Matthew will be working tomorrow so I will stop by then.
Deb came back to the cabin and we had our box lunch for supper. We both have bad sunburns so we were a bit uncomfortable. We will use sunscreen tomorrow.
