Lew's blood pressure was up - 158/106 before pills; 146/101 after pills and a shower. (Dr. Clemens said that was normal because of the altitude change. We would find out later that there were other problems.)
While we were waiting in the hotel lobby to be seated for breakfast, we saw a bison along the lake shore. Of course, we didn't have a camera along.
On the road to Canyon Junction, we saw a large (over 100) herd of bison near Elk Antler Creek. Further along, we saw more bison. The river was filled with Canada Geese and ducks. We later found out that the ducks were, for the most part, Golden Eyes. There was another large (50-100) herd of bison right along the road, so we were able to get some pictures.
We drove by a photo demo just before Canyon Junction. Everyone passing by thought they must be photographing some sort of animal. Lots of people (us too!) stopped.
We stopped to take some pictures at the Washburn Hot Springs Overlook. We then took Chittenden Road up to Washburn Mountain. It's a six mile hike up to the top and we had plans to do it, but never made it. We saw an elk herd across the mountain, very far in the distance, but Deb could still hear the buglingm even at that distance (Lew couldn't pick it up).
After Mae West Curve, we stopped at a pullout to look for grizzlies. It was supposed to be a prime area, but all we saw were a few elk off in the distance. Once again, Deb could hear the bugling, but Lew couldn't.
