Yellowstone Journey 2000 |
"As
the female awoke, she reflected upon the Special Place to which instinct
and the advice of Others had brought her. She had begun to believe
that all that she had been told of this place might be true. It
was a Place full of wonders and great beauty, and she knew that one
might become attached to such a place (for she knew of attachments and
many other things, but she put the past behind her)."
|
|
"Quietly the Female stared across the dying embers, seeing the Others who remained to share the fire. Her mind reached back to the beginning of the day . . . . . . She quickly set herself upon the path to the Special Place and toward the Others she knew would be found there. Soon after entering the Special Place, she hesitated upon the SIDE of the path to see the sun seemingly caught among the trees and twinkling at the beautiful morning."

Yellowstone
Journey -
|
"As Yelloweyes sprang from the sleeping place, she was aware that THIS was a special time. Soon she and the Male would again seek adventure and beauty on the N-West path. As she scurried to procure and secure the much-needed items for their journey, the Male emerged from the sleeping place and indicated that the time was very near the witching hour. It also seemed to the Female that he grumbled something about HER familiarity with WITCHING....? Soon the pair was upon the chosen, HER chosen, path! Even SOONER, they returned to the den for things forgotten, or so HE said, in her haste."
|
YellowEyes' Sorrow |
YellowEyes curled deep into
her den and shivered. She wondered at the heavy, numb, aching cold in
her chest. She was a wise being who understood many things but not
this great, lonely sorrow which immobilized her. The Male had slipped
from her as they slept and had gone adventuring without her, without
his lifelong mate.

Path of the Ancients |
The path now taken would
lead upward and toward the west-northwest and thru cool high
places, across cool dry places & into the distant past.

Waterfall Hike
|
If one must conquer a fear,
it is often best to approach the fearsome thing in a divine state of
ignorance. This was how I approached, unaware, the "Hidden
Waterfall Hike" led by Jake on Memorial Day, May 2002.

The Bison |
"The Great Beast stood quietly as the snow fell softly upon his massive back. His great heart was heavy in his chest. He knew that the time of Great Cold also brought the Time of Killing." |
